"What Seinfeld Left Out" -part I The Friendship Factor ; Building Great Relationships

Good afternoon Xanga!

For those of you unfamiliar, Seinfeld is a sitcom about nothing, but more so about a group of four friends and their relationships with each other, the people they know, and the people they do not know.  Thus, with that in mind here's the Word of the day.

HOW TO BRIDGE THE GAP OF WHERE YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU WANT TO BE:

1.  Pay the price to value others.

    • "Be humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves" Phil 2:3 NCV
    • "He asked him, of all the commandments, which is the most important?' 'The most important one,'answered Jesus, ' is this...LOVE the Lord you God with all you heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength' The second is this: ' LOVE your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:28-31 NIV
  • How to love God:
    • Tell him your feelings. -
      • if you think about it even the most prominent figures in the bible got "mad" at God, and let Him know how they felt.  For instance, the Isarelites complained to God for 40 years while wondering the desert, Adam told God he was ashamed to be naked,  Peter told the Lord he would NEVER forsake him even after the Lord told him he would, and Judas betray the Lord in his face.  Forget backstabbing that brother was bold.....
    • Exaggerate your gratefullness and His greatness.  Worry is just the exaggeration of how YOUR OWN problems are apparently too big for God to handle.....

2. Seek the strength to LOVE (willing to sacrifice for) others.

    • "I am giving a new commandment to you now - love each other juast as much as I love you."  John 13:34 TLB
      • - i dont know if i ever thought about dying on the cross for some of the people I KNOW nonetheless the folks i DONT know.  think about it....
    • "Love your enemies! Do good to them! Lend to them!"....Luke 6:35 TLB
  • How to improve your ability to love:
    • Give yourself a better example (God)
    • Have a higher purpose for loving (not just for your own needs)
    • Rely on a greater power ("taste and see that the Lord is good" )
      • you cannot give what you have not received.  Cant love unless you got Love, cant pay them loans back unless you first receive some finances....

3. Watch the way you treat others.

    • Golder Rule: "Treat others the way you want them to treat you". Luke 6:31 TLB
    • Platinum Rule: "Try to show as much compassion as your Father does" Luke 6:36 TLB
    • "Do nothing out of SELFISH AMBITION or VAIN CONCEIT" Phil 2:3 NIV - meaning every relationship shouldnt be about what u get out of it, and how u will look if your associated with certain folks.

Lastly you cannot speak about LOVE with out listing the definition of :

"Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude.  Love does not demand its own way,  It is not irritable or touchy,  It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong," 1 Cor. 13: 4-5 TLB

If this is a check list i know i dont have all basis covered yet, but im definitely working on it and hope you are striving to do the same..... Tune in next week for Part II "The connection factor"
